Active Schools

The Active School Flag (ASF) is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. The process aims to get more schools, more active, more often. In order to achieve our ASF we must meet criteria in 3 categories: Physical Education, Physical Activity and Partnerships.

Our whole school active slogan is: Don't sit get fit!

We ran an active slogan competition and then our sport prefects chose the winner, we chose this particular slogan as it encourages our staff and students to get active and fit throughout the day. To further motivate students to be active we have displayed posters showing the benefits of physical activity on our active schools board.

Our sports prefects have dropped active jars into every classroom to give students and teachers the opportunity to get moving during the day. We have also mapped out a 1km walking route on the school grounds which we hope will encourage the school community to take well being walks during the week.

We made posters displaying the benefits of physical activity and had visits from NC fitness, Lusk United FC, Round Towers GAA club, Junsa Taekwondo and visited the local tennis courts.

We are very excited about our Active Schools Week, which will take place in Lusk CC from the 23-27th of April. ASF is a Department of Education and Skills initiative supported by Healthy Ireland. #DontSitGetFit
